My goodness!  Has it really been 2 months since I posted?

I have really been a slacker.

I have no excuse except for just wanting to be lazy.
Oh, I have been busy making videos for my kids.  OK, not really making videos, but rather editing film clips and setting them to music.

Here are 3 of my favorite videos that I have made…

This one is the last Hunger Games video I made for my daughter. I realized that it may be my last because they are all starting to seem “too much of the same” to me now.

Since I got to be fair, I made my son a Lego video. Of course, I picked a song I love (but may have been a questionable choice since it has the words “hell” and “damn” in it). I figured that it was on the radio, so what the H-E-double hockey sticks.  Consider that my warning though… if those words offend you then skip this video.

I did put a warning in my description, since it is a kids show paired with music some parents may find offensive.  I try to be straight forward about these kind of things because I have found that my husband and I tend to be on the more laid back side of the child-rearing spectrum.

Finally, some girl, in the girl scout troop I help lead, requested a Percy Jackson Video… so I had to deliver. You know, this may be my favorite video yet.

I will admit that it could be because I think Logan Lerman is pretty adorable or it could be that I love the Percy Jackson series.

Other than making videos, I have been just trying to keep my head above water with all my little part-time jobs.

So long time…no posting.   So much has been going on here, I really should have been posting!  I guess that is how it works though, when life gives you a ton of stuff that could be post worthy then really there is no time to write.

I am back though and working on a way to share with you all the happenings, because life has been pretty challenging (not in a jump off a bridge way, but more in a give me a headache way) lately.

So I thought I would share some thoughts on the last week and a half with some pins…

Kids Say the Darnest things

I love this idea for wall art and capturing memories.  My kids say some awesome things. Most of them are not quotes that I would want to memorialize in wall art, but I am pretty sure they will say something that is worthy at some point.

Actually, my son said something the other day that was pretty cute.  We had to go to the bank, because I lost my checkbook and then realized that we were out of checks… all while the guy that fixed my HVAC was waiting to be paid.  What can I say….That is how life has been lately.   At any rate, we were on our way when we had this conversation. Cooking Experiment #15: Green Beans with Basil and Mint

So since I have many saved some drafts... I thought I would throw caution to the wind and go ahead and finish them.  Even though they are a tad bit out of date, I figure the information and my pithy thoughts really don’t go out of style.

Our yummy dinner!

So I really have continued to cook even though I have not shared any of my experiments with you lately… One of my experiments came from the Summer 2012 Recipe.com magazine.  Online I found the recipe at bhg.com.

This was a quick and easy side that was really delicious and paired great with some grilled pork chops.  Really, I don’t think I could even mess up this recipe!  The only issue I had with the recipe was that it called for 2 pounds of green beans… Seriously, what family of 4 can eat 2 pounds of green beans for a side.  I decided that 1 pound was enough and so I halved the recipe.  This seemed like the perfect amount for our family and I was not left with a ton of leftovers.  My kids even ate it (Only after my son complained that he did not know what the little red pieces were and were certainly not going to eat them).  Overall, I thought it was a hit.

I served this warm, but I think it would be fine cold and as a potluck dish… but since I did not try it cold…I really could not be sure that it would not just be a soggy mess, so if you do try it out and serve it cold, please let me know how you liked it.   Definitely let me know if it becomes a soggy mess, because that is the kind of information I tend to want to know.

I am not sure who started the Wordless Wednesday Blog topic or party, but I thought I would participate today*.  Mother’s day has come and gone, but I had to share what my kids thought I was good at…

From The Girl**:

Unfortunately, this is not the classic “Jesse’s Girl” (because I am not that cool), no she likes it when I sing the theme song for Disney’s “Jesse.”

What can I say, it’s catchy! When she watches that show, I have to sing at least the “Hey Jesse” and the “Down, down, down” parts.  I also can’t help singing the Phineas and Ferb theme.  Something about those disney theme songs… by the way I still can sing the Ducktales and Gummy Bear theme songs from cartoons I watched when I was young too.

From The Boy:

I think his recipe speaks volumes of my amazing culinary abilities, don’t you?  Although, I think I might be something wrong since it takes me 50 minutes to make it.

* I did realize that I did not really do this correctly.  I don’t follow directions well, and have a hard time doing anything “wordlessly”.  I hope you don’t mind.

** By the way I did not show the whole paper, but she said she knows I work hard “Cleaning the house”.  Score!!  I am not completely failing at this stay at home thing.

Meet the Domestic Goddess In Training

I have never been known for my domestic skills. Frankly, my husband married me in spite of my domestic incapabilities.
I have decided it is time for me to learn. I am undertaking a new career as a Stay-At-Home Mom and part of the job description is to be a "Domestic Goddess"
