I surely don’t know. Probably this…
Well, since I am not good at catering to my husband’s every whim I thought I would share what a mediocre wife does for their husband’s birthday. Continue reading
I know… I completely missed Pinteresting Tuesday.
I have no excuse.
At any rate… I am going to make it up to you with a post that is all about what Pinterest is all about (hopefully you followed that thought)….
I actually made something that I pinned on Pinterest!
So this is what I pinned…
And this is my not so neat and impressive version…
My kids really had a blast helping me M0d Podge the papers on… although I will warn you that Mod Podge is so much messier when you do it with kids. The kids loved adding the bling and the buttons too. Fun stuff!
So… this brings us to the next pin and why I made those snazzy clothespins…. Continue reading
Let’s start with the Sparkly Vampires Yesterday I went to see Breaking Dawn with some of my girlfriends and we had a blast. I must disclose that I enjoyed reading the Twilight series. It know it is shocking considering I am a mom and it a lot of moms love Twilight. I was sucked into the books… They were definitely candy reads vs. thought provoking reads, but sometimes you just feel like candy. Oh wait, I am not that kind of Twilight fan. I mean, Robert Pattinson is cute and all, but he is no James Marsden. I mean, how can he compete against an X-man. Continue reading
It is just the beginning though… I still have a few more things to do before I say that my house is completely decorated for Christmas… but we did get a lot done this weekend.
Here is a sneak peak at some of our decorations…
Our Elf is now out and watching us. I know it is not December yet… but it isn’t too early for him to start tattle-taleing (not sure if I spelled this right, but “tailing” did not convey the same meaning to me) to Santa, right? The question is… does he start going to the North Pole tonight or will he start making his trips when December starts? I just don’t know.
See that blob on the left-hand side? I have the big frosted vases on my mantel that usually have two sad-looking fake flowers in the them, but I thought I would try to do something new with them this christmas. I bought cheap ball ornaments and some battery powered lights and put them in the vases. I think they kind of look fun.
Usually we put a wreath around it (I say we, but usually my husband puts it up) and we add fake berries and poinsettias, but I could not make the wreath work. Plus, my husband threw out the berries because they looked really shabby after many years of use…and I don’t remember seeing the poinsettias at all. So I decided to just wrap the greenery around it and put up the rest of the ornaments we had. It is still a bit bare… but I am hoping to find those poinsettias.
We got tree up today. I love trimming the tree. It is always fun to pull out the ornaments and get nostalgic about when we got them and who gave them to us.
Last year, I bought 3 Lego ornament kits for the kids to make. My son took two of the ornaments for his little tree in his room, but we still have one that graces the family tree. I am still amazed that the santas were still there. My son loves his Legos, but he loves taking creations apart shortly after completion. He has been getting better at leaving the sets together now, but last year that was not the case.
Well, it is late and that is the end of my sneak peak. Who else was getting decorations up this holiday weekend? Did anyone else have an Elf that decided he needed to start his job early?
Since we did a lot of driving today, my husband and I had time to talk.
Well, we talked about what makes a man… manly.
Maybe it was my son and how he did not mind watching Barbie Charm School twice on the trip today. By the way, he actually does like the movie… he even will tell you his favorite part, if you were to ask.
Does that make my son unmanly? If it does, is that so bad? Is it OK to be unmanly? Or… Is it better to be an unmanly man. I certainly would not have wanted to marry a manly man… in fact I told him that… Continue reading
For some reason, my blog has attacked the attention of a lot of weathervane lovers and they love to comment (100+ comments so far).
WordPress has a spam service and it has deemed most of their comments as spam. Are they spammers? I just don’t know. It seems a bit odd that so many weathervane enthusiasts have loved and enjoyed my blog… but stranger things have happened.
I just noticed that another mom and blogger,Expatbabyadventures, has also received a lot of love from them.
Now, isn’t that strange.
Today is Thanksgiving here in the US.
It originally started with the Pilgrims and the Native Americans, but as I got older I realized the sweet story of their feast was just the beginning and well it did not end well for the Native Americans (honestly, I get a little bummed out just thinking about it).
So, we now concentrate on the food, family, and being thankful.
So many people used this opportunity to update their FB statuses with what they are thankful for… but that is a lot to remember to do. I am just not good with anything that requires a daily requirement… so I dedicate this post to what I am thankful for. Continue reading
So it is Tuesday, and what do you know…. I am not posting this at 11pm.
Yep, I got the post out on time this week!
So I have been a repinning fool this last week, but I can’t help it if I follow some great boards like this one and this one…. Oh, there are so many people that feed into this little pinning/repinning addiction. They know who they are.
Camera of My Dreams
The first pin is one I pinned myself. It is a camera that I drool over every time I go into Urban Outfitters… OK, this is not the exact camera I see when I am in there…It is way cooler. Why? Well, it is Alice in Wonderland themed. Alice in Wonderland makes anything cooler if you ask me. I love my digital SLR camera, but there is a part of me that still misses using 35mm film and if I get another camera… I do want it to be this one.
Cherish Their Mess
So, I tend to get a bit bent out of shape about the constant cleaning up I do after the kids. Somedays it seems that everything I touch is sticky or slimy, or a random color that it should not be. There are always toys to be picked up and a laundry pile that grows faster than it seems possible. Yet, this quote reminds me of the reason I wanted to stay home and tackle these things as my daily job… and that is because I only have the one chance to spend with my kids at this age. I need to remember that someday, I will miss this busy time in my life and wish I had this time back.
Justin, Don’t be such a Meathead!
So earlier this week I shared my issues with the Bieber baby news, and thankfully it was fake accusation and The Girl’s questions have ceased… for now. Well, I could not resist repinning this amazing meat creation of Justin’s face (my husband finds some amazingly strange items on the internet). Who thinks of this stuff? I do have to give them props though… Bacon hair! Genius!
Talking about hair… I am about to get my hair cut. I have not been in months and have not done anything new with it in ages… so I can’t wait.
Today was my first official day at home since the kids went back to school.
The big question of the day was what I did… So I thought I would share.
Today is a very exciting day!
We are waiting for our friends from Florida to come into to town. They moved a few years ago, but we are so lucky that they usually come to visit 2x a year. This year they are coming in for Thanksgiving rather than Christmas and New Year’s Eve, so we get to see them sooner than we usually do.
Another big plus… I don’t have to work on Monday! That means if we want we can do something for lunch or whatever! Yay!
In my typical fashion, I really don’t know what the plans are. I am not much of a planner. I do know that one of the set plans for today is that we are going to see our friend’s daughter in a play, Annie! My daughter and I have been so excited. We don’t see lots of plays, so it is a special treat. It is also a special treat to be able to see one of our friends’ kids be a star!
Annie has always been a favorite of mine. I remember being a little girl and and singing the songs around the house. I remember cursing my somewhat straight light brown hair (of course now it is black/brown… so maybe I should not have cursed it) and wishing I had her curly red hair. When I got old enough to dye my hair… I went red (well, as red as my hair would let me go). I gave up dying my hair when I had kids, but lately I have been wondering if I should go red again.
I did not look that bad with auburn hair. I kind of think the red highlights actually perked up my skin a little bit.
Since I am on the subject… I think I have always been drawn to redheads when it came to my favorite characters and TV shows. Continue reading
